Classic Solitaire |
Are you looking for a FUN solitaire game?
At dogMelon, we understand what makes solitaire FUN. We have been making solitaire games for years. Not only that, but we have been playing solitaire games for hundreds and hundreds of hours. We are solitaire programmers, but above all, we are solitaire players.
Some other programmers may think it's a waste of time to play their games, but we don't.
Why?
Because playing our own games allows us to know exactly what does, and doesn't make the game fun.
And what makes a solitaire game fun and enjoyable?
It's simple! You just need to focus on 3 things...
The graphics should be big, clear and beautiful. Most other solitaire games get this wrong, and have cards that are way too
small to see. You might not notice it, but this causes you to squint, which will cause a headache if you play for long enough.
We decided to make our cards as realistic looking as possible. And the cards aren't small. We don't have teeny-tiny cards.
We have big HUGE cards, that make the game easy to see.
In fact, we have had reports from vision impaired customers, that they can play our solitaire without using their glasses!
And, we also had our cards specially designed by a professional artist. No more hideous art drawn by programmers!
Until you've try it for yourself, you won't realize how much easier solitaire is to play, with proper, big, beautiful cards...
The solitaire games should be easy to learn. Have you ever tried learning a new solitaire game? It can be quite difficult.
There are all sorts of rules, with certain cards only being allowed in certain places. And that's before you start trying
to come up with a strategy to win the game!
That is why we have focused on making the help for Classic Solitaire as clear and as easy to understand as possible.
We do this by showing clear examples, with screenshots. The examples will help you to learn exactly what to do, and make learning
a new game a piece-of-cake. Don't believe me?Then check out the Classic Solitaire Help for yourself!
The game should be fun to play, for extended periods of time. As mentioned above, we have played hundreds of hours of Classic
Solitaire. It's only when you play for this long that you can really polish the product, and make it fun to play. For example-
we noticed that it's quite common to use undo in solitaire. Most of our competitors make you use the keyboard to undo, but
we allow you to do it with a simple right click of the mouse.
Some of the other features include:
It's little things like these, that make the difference between an okay solitaire game, and one that really shines.
As well as playing ourselves, we also use solitaire testers, that play Classic Solitaire and give us feedback.
In fact, one of our testers has literally played thousands of hours of Classic Solitaire! Her feedback has been invaluable, and well appreciated by our customers!
We don't just enjoy playing and programming solitaire, we also enjoy writing about it.
We have quite a few different Solitaire Articles, where we write about all sorts of things, particularly focusing on how to play the solitaire games better.
Some of the more popular articles include...
Spider is a fun, and very well-known game, that requires patience and careful planning. It is very hard game, with games often
taking more than half an hour of continual thought. The aim of spider solitaire is to build ascending suit sequences in the
foundation zone. But this is easier said than done! Particularly when playing 4 suit spider solitaire, it can sometimes seem
nearly impossible to finish the game...
How To Win Tri Peaks Solitaire
Tri Peaks is a popular game, combining elements of Golf and Pyramid. It's quite fun because of the scoring system- which will
often see you replaying the same deal, just to beat your own score!
The scoring system is a little counter-intuitive though... Often you can get much higher scores when you DON'T play all the
moves that you can...
Pyramid has a very distinctive tableau that makes it look quite different to other solitaire games. There is quite a lot of
luck involved, but there are certain strategies that you can use to dramatically increase your chances of winning.
The aim is to to remove all the cards from the tableau and the talon. Cards are removed in pairs, when their combined total
is 13. (Except for Kings, they are just moved on their own)...
Yukon is very similar to Klondike, but requires the ability to plan elaborate sequences of long moves.
It's not always possible to win every game, but good players should be able to win more than 80% of all the games that they
play.
The key is to work backwards. Don't just do the first move thay you see! Instead, work backwards, trying to expose the uncovered
cards...
