What is GTD*?
GTD is short for "Getting Things Done*".
It's a system for personal productivity created by David Allen.
Here's a more formal definition.
Here, you can learn about GTD, and how to do it using Note Studio.
Important:
Now, there are many different ways to do GTD, and Note Studio is only one of them.
Unless his official website says otherwise, David Allen does not endorse Note Studio, and we have no connection with his company.
In fact, we designed Note Studio long before we heard about GTD.
It's only after our users kept telling us how they loved Note Studio for GTD, that we thought we'd better investigate what GTD actually was.
Now, we're converted!
If you're interested in GTD, why don't you check out David Allen's website.
We highly recommend both the GTD book and the audio book.

- 2. Your Personal Productivity System
We're going to start by looking at your current productivity system.
At this stage, you might protest:
"Productivity System? I don't even have a productivity system!"
- 3.Your Brain Needs Help
Your brain is an amazing thing. It allows you to understand language, do maths, catch a ball, and appreciate music.
But in some ways, your brain is really, really dumb...
- 4: The Importance of Context
We've seen how the brain, while remarkable, is really bad at some things.
One of the areas it is weak is that of reminding us of things at the appropriate time.
- 5: The Inbox
All day, every day, things are bouncing into your life which create work for you to do.
- 6: Processing the Inbox
I've just told you that it's really important to get your inbox to empty.
In GTD, the aim is to get your inbox to empty, and keep it that way.
- 7: Action Items
In the previous section I talked about processing your inbox. The fundamental question for each item was: "Is this item actionable?"
Now I want to talk about what happens when the answer is "Yes."
- 8: Defining a Next Action
One of the great things about GTD is that it forces you to think more rigorously.
It doesn't make you work harder, in fact it makes your life easier. But it encourages quick, incisive thinking, and eliminates
slopping thinking. Let's face it, most of us tend to be sloppy if we can get away with it.
- 9: Dynamic Lists
We know that it's A Good Thing for our actions to be grouped by context. This means that our action items need to move around from list to list. So how does this happen?
- 10: Capture Tool
One of the biggest reason our heads are busy, and one of the biggest reason we forget things, is because we are not using
a good capture tool.
- 11: Other Aspects of GTD
So what about the other parts of a GTD system? The basic GTD system outlined by creator Dave Allen describes a number of other
things, but how do these fit in with Note Studio?
- 12: What Next?
You want to set up your own GTD system. So, where do you go from here?
